Africa–Caribbean leaders agree on visa waivers, says Antigua PM

Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced that leaders at the recent Africa–Caribbean Summit in Addis Ababa have agreed to introduce visa-free travel between Africa and the Caribbean.

Browne, speaking on the Browne and Browne Show, said the move aims to encourage greater cultural and people-to-people exchanges as well as new opportunities in trade, investment and educationBrowne and Browne Show.

He added that efforts are also underway to establish direct air links, with negotiations involving Ethiopian Airlines, Ghana Air and Air Peace. At least one weekly charter or scheduled service is being targeted.

The visa waivers and air link are part of a broader strategy agreed at the summit to deepen Africa–Caribbean integration, increase investment flows and foster academic and student exchanges.
